In a swift and decisive response, the Indian Navy successfully intervened in a hijacking incident in the Arabian Sea involving the Malta-flagged vessel, MV Ruen, en route to Somalia's coast. The Indian Navy, actively patrolling the Gulf of Aden for anti-piracy measures, demonstrated its readiness to ensure maritime security in the region.

Upon receiving information about the hijacking, the Indian Navy promptly redirected its naval maritime patrol aircraft, currently conducting surveillance in the area. Simultaneously, a warship engaged in anti-piracy patrol in the Gulf of Aden was deployed to locate and assist MV Ruen.

Surveillance and Intercept Operation

The naval maritime patrol aircraft conducted an overflight of the hijacked vessel on an early Friday morning, maintaining continuous monitoring of its movements. This strategic surveillance played a crucial role in the subsequent operation to secure the Malta-flagged vessel.

On Saturday, the Indian Navy's warship, part of its ongoing mission in the Gulf of Aden, effectively intercepted MV Ruen. The vessel, originally bound for Somalia, was safely brought under naval control, thwarting the hijacking attempt.

As per reports, the Indian Navy remains actively engaged in addressing the situation to ensure the safety and security of MV Ruen and its crew. The rapid and efficient response underscores the Navy's commitment to maintaining the integrity of maritime activities and safeguarding vessels in the Arabian Sea.
