The highest commanders of the Indian Navy will convene for the first edition of the Naval Commanders' Conference 2025, a biennial conference that provides scope for deliberations on strategic, operational, and administrative issues. The conference will play a crucial role in reiterating India's position as a 'Preferred Security Partner' in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

Phase I: Flag-Off of Indian ocean ship sagar

The conference will initiate Phase I at Karwar on April 5 when Hon'ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh will inaugurally flag off the Indian Ocean Ship Sagar. This is designed to facilitate sustained cooperation with IOR nations and is in tune with the government's vision of Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security Across the Regions (MAHASAGAR).

INS Sunayna's deployment and maritime infrastructure inauguration

INS Sunayna will be commissioned to the South-West IOR with a joint crew of the Indian Navy and nine friendly foreign nations. After flag-off, Shri Rajnath Singh will commission several maritime infrastructures and support facilities under Project Seabird.

Phase II: Comprehensive review and integration among services

Phase II of the conference will be held in New Delhi from April 7-10, where an integrated review of operational, materiel, logistic, HR development, training, and administrative spheres will be carried out. The Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of the Army Staff, and Chief of the Air Staff will engage with Naval Commanders with the objective to realize synergy among the three services.

Emphasis on modernization, indigenization, and self-reliance

The conference will aim at further enhancing modernization, indigenization, and self-dependence as per the vision of AatmaNirbharta by the government. The event will bring out synergy and focus on essential operational, administrative, and materiel concerns, shaping the direction of the Indian Navy towards being a 'Combat Ready, Credible, Cohesive, and Future Ready Force'.
