India is eager to host the Olympics in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said inaugurating the 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) session on Saturday.

Speaking at the Nita Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai, PM Modi said India will give its 100 percent in preparation for the successful organization of the 2036 Olympics. And emphasized the significance of the IOC session taking place in India after 40 years.

PM hails India’s win against Pakistan

PM Modi hailed the India men’s cricket team’s victory in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 fixture against Pakistan at the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. He said, “I congratulate Team Bharat and every Indian on this historic victory.”

Speaking at the gathering, the prime minister highlighted the performances of India in the last edition of the Olympics and also reminded incredible performance of the Indian contingent in the recently concluded Asian Games.

PM Modi said, “India is eager to host the Olympics in the country. India will leave no stone unturned in the preparation for the successful organization of the Olympics in 2036, this is the dream of the 140 crore Indians”.

India has shown its capability

The prime minister pointed out that India has successfully proved its capability to organize global sports tournaments that recently hosted global tournaments including the Chess Olympiad which saw the participation of 186 countries, the Football Under-17 Women’s World Cup, the Women’s World Boxing Championship, the Hockey World Cup, the Shooting World Cup, and the ongoing Cricket World Cup.

He also mentioned that India organizes the largest cricket league, IPL in the world every year.

The President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach and several other members of the International Olympic Committee including Nita Ambani were present on the occasion.
