Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has also stated that India never makes any choice under coercion but is looking for every possibility in the national interest. US provides relief of 90 days on tariffs
As per one official, so far many conditions and norms that are required have been agreed upon in the current negotiations between India and the US. There is mutual understanding between the two nations even on the basis points. "If both the sides are provided with equal advantage, the agreement is most likely to be sealed within the next 90 days," the official stated.
India and the US have committed USD 500 billion in bilateral trade by 2030 from the existing USD 191 billion. For the realization of this ambitious target, the inaugural phase of the BTA i.e. Interim Trade Agreement must be finalized between September-October 2025. The official was confident that everything could be achieved within 90 days if both sides realize the advantages.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal, while presenting a statement over this entire development, stated, "India-US talks are continuously going on. We are exploring all sides, safeguarding our commercial interests. But India never makes decisions under duress. We follow the policy of equal respect and reciprocal benefit," he said.
