New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah revealed a significant administrative development for the union territory of Ladakh on Monday. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided to create five new districts in Ladakh, a move aimed at enhancing local governance and bringing administrative benefits closer to the people. This decision aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of fostering a developed and prosperous Ladakh.

Details of the New Districts

The newly established districts will be Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang. Currently, Ladakh is divided into two districts: Leh and Kargil, each governed by its own autonomous district council.

In a post on X, Amit Shah emphasized that the creation of these districts is part of the Modi government's broader commitment to improve governance and create abundant opportunities for the residents of Ladakh.

“In pursuit of Narendra Modi’s vision to build a developed and prosperous Ladakh, the MHA has decided to create five new districts,” Shah stated. He added that this initiative aims to ensure that the benefits of governance reach every corner of Ladakh.
