India has promptly dispatched close to 15 tons of relief material to Myanmar, which was hit by two powerful earthquakes on Friday. The relief was flown in by an Indian Air Force C-130J plane from the Hindon air base, fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's promise to provide aid to the country that shares a border with India.
The relief kits supplied by India include essential commodities such as tents, sleeping bags, blankets, ready-to-eat food, generator sets, water filters, hygiene kits, and solar lights. Medical aid in the form of paracetamol, antibiotics, syringes, gloves, and bandages has also been provided to aid victims of the disaster.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had posted on Twitter on Friday, expressing concern for what was occurring in Myanmar and Thailand, and making sure that India was prepared to provide all types of assistance. The Indian Embassy in Yangon has also been working with Myanmar authorities to facilitate quick delivery of aid
