Nita Ambani, chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, asserts that India is prospering at the ideal time and that the world is drawn to the country by its rich culture.
She said, “I am in New York on behalf of Reliance Foundation, the foundation is supporting an exhibit “The Tree and the Serpent” at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exhibit has Buddhist art from the 2nd century BC to the 4th Century AD, about 140 pieces. India is the cradle of Buddhism and Buddhism is intertwined with Indian ethos”: Nita Ambani, Chairperson, Reliance Foundation in New York.
Besides this, she also talked about India’s first-of-its-kind, multi-disciplinary cultural space, the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) within the Jio World Centre located in the heart of Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, which got opened a few months ago. She asserted that the Cultural Centre has seen a footfall of 5000-6000 every day just for two exhibits we had over one and a half lakh people coming in. “India is at the right place and time now,” she added.
In addition to the art and culture, the owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Mumbai Indians, Nita Ambani said that the interest of the people is growing in cricket and so many people have invested in the same.
There are six cricket teams here (in Major League Cricket in the US). As we speak, Mumbai Indians (NY) are playing against Texas Super Kings. Our PM at the White House also spoke about cricket, so many people here have invested in these six cricket teams that this interest in cricket in the US will only grow: Nita Ambani, Chairperson, Reliance Foundation on professional cricket in the US.
Notably, businesswoman Nita Ambani attended a preview of the exhibition ‘Tree & Serpent: Early Buddhist Art in India, 200 BCE–400 CE’ at The Met Museum. Over 140 objects highlighting the pre-Buddhist origins in India will be displayed from July 21 to November 13 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
