India Daily exclusive: Shocking truth behind Sambhal riots (India Daily)

The violent clash in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, has revealed shocking details that shake the very foundation of communal harmony. The controversy began with a survey conducted at the wazu khana (ablution area) of Sambhal’s Jama Masjid, where water was being drained for inspection. However, rumors spread that the masjid was being excavated, leading to a mob of over 60,000 people gathering within an hour.

Carefully orchestrated chaos

An undercover investigation by India Daily revealed startling insights. According to the mosque’s caretaker, the crowd swelled from 5,000 to 60,000 in just an hour due to false rumors. He disclosed, "The situation spiraled after people misunderstood the water flow as excavation work inside the masjid." The mob, driven by misinformation, initiated violent actions, including stone pelting, leading to widespread unrest.

No innocent victims, says caretaker

The caretaker clarified that those accused and those who lost their lives during the riot were present at the scene and actively participated. "No innocent person was harmed. The casualties were involved in stone pelting," he remarked, suggesting the unrest was not spontaneous but premeditated.

The Jama Masjid committee came under fire for its handling of the situation. The caretaker admitted, “The committee should have informed people about the survey in advance. Announcements or a notice could have avoided the chaos.” The failure to communicate created a breeding ground for rumors, leading to the tragic escalation.

Neighboring Masjid raises questions

The caretaker of the nearby Ladania Masjid also criticized the Jama Masjid committee, questioning why the members did not utilize mobile phones to inform locals. “In today’s age, information spreads in seconds. They had ample time to clarify the situation,” he stated.

The investigation also highlighted the role of economic disparities. The caretaker revealed, “Those involved in the riot were mostly poor and unemployed. No wealthy individual participated or even visited the site.”
