The voting for the Delhi Assembly elections concluded at 6 PM, with a total of 699 candidates vying for the 70 seats. The fate of these candidates is now sealed in the EVMs, and while the official results will be declared on February 8, the exit polls have already begun to paint a picture of the possible outcomes.
According to the AI-powered exit poll by India Daily, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is expected to retain its stronghold in Delhi. The poll forecasts that AAP will secure between 33 to 43 seats, with an estimated vote share of 44 to 50%. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is projected to win 27 to 37 seats, while the Congress party is predicted to remain empty-handed, failing to secure any seats. The BJP is expected to garner a vote share of 40 to 44%.
The Aam Aadmi Party has emerged victorious in the last three consecutive Delhi elections, winning in 2013, 2015, and 2020. Currently, AAP is in power in Delhi, and the party has consistently outperformed its rivals in these elections. The BJP, on the other hand, has not won a single election since its victory in 1993. Meanwhile, the Congress party dominated in the late 90s and early 2000s, with three back-to-back wins under the leadership of former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
Voting for all 70 constituencies in Delhi has concluded, with a voter turnout of approximately 58% reported so far. The final numbers will be released later. As of now, 699 candidates are in the race, and the EVMs have locked in their fates. All eyes are now on February 8, when the final results will be announced.
