As Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Norway on his Europe trip recently, he has taken a swipe at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in his address to the University of Oslo. He said that the INDIA bloc will not let the RSS capture India’s institutions, and will also not tolerate the ‘murder’ of democracy.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi takes a dig at RSS

The Congress party has now shared a clip from his visit to the varsity earlier this month, where Rahul Gandhi underscored the objectives of the mega-opposition alliance INDIA.

He said, “Every single person in that alliance, regardless of any party, has agreed that we will not tolerate the murder of Indian democracy. Second, every single person is of the view that we are not going to let the RSS capture our institutional framework.”

Further, the Congress leader has alleged that there is a monopoly of 2 to 3 business houses in India and that more than 200 million people have gone into poverty in the last nine years.

“Thirdly, we all agree that the government must spend and involve itself more in healthcare and education,” said Rahul.

He also said that there are certain groups of people – Dalits, tribals, minorities, who are not included in India’s growth story.

Rahul cites example of Kerala

However, he also said that there are disagreements within the INDIA bloc in several states. Citing Kerala as an example, Gandhi said that Congress has a full-fledged fight with the Left, but the aim is to make sure the BJP is never in power in the southern state.

The Congress leader also said that there are other states where it is slightly more complicated.

“It’s pretty clear in Bengal that it would be beneficial to stand against BJP. Can we achieve that? Probably. What would that look like? I can’t tell you right now,” he added.
