Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said that the newly formed opposition alliance titled INDIA ‘will wipe out the BJP’ not just from Uttar Pradesh but from the entire country in 2024.

“The BJP came to power in 2014 and it will be sent packing in 2024. INDIA [alliance] will not just wipe out the BJP from the state [Uttar Pradesh] but from the entire country,” Yadav said.

The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh also said that the ruling BJP was ‘nervous’ about the opposition alliance and its ‘INDIA’ name.

“It [BJP] is nervous about the alliance. They also have issues with the name INDIA,” Yadav said.

Referring to the acronym adopted by the new alliance, which is named Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, Yadav said, “INDIA refers to our shared culture and our message of brotherhood.”

Akhilesh Yadav, whose Samajwadi Party is a part of the 26-party-strong INDIA alliance, said that the BJP is worried that the choice before the voters in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha election is between those who want to save India and those who want to destroy its Constitution.

“So those who want to destroy the Constitution are scared. And scared people change their language,” he said.

Manipur burning due to RSS, BJP: Akhilesh Yadav

Akhilesh Yadav also spoke about the violence in Manipur, which has become a contentious topic in Parliamentary proceedings in recent times. “Manipur is burning due to the divisive policy of RSS [Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh] and the vote bank politics of BJP,” Yadav said.

“Before speaking about the opposition and INDIA [alliance], the BJP should first talk about the women who were stripped and paraded naked in Manipur,” Yadav added, referring to the viral footage that came out of Manipur where two women were paraded naked and allegedly gang-raped.

“And if they don’t talk about it, then I believe it was the BJP’s plan to poison the society [in Manipur] to create divisions in it,” he further claimed.
