India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday has predicted that weather conditions are becoming favourable for the onset of monsoon over Kerala in next 48 hours. Earlier, the department predicted pre arrival of monsoon on June 4.
As per the predictions, monsoon generally sets in over Kerala on June 1 with standard deviation for about seven days.
Apart from this, the warning has also been issued for the fishermen, as Cyclonic storm Biparjoy is expected to intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm in next 24 hours. Coastal areas of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, and Kerala are set to experience high speed wind and harsh weather. Notably, Kerala has seen a delay in the monsoon due to cyclone Biparjoy.
IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in Mumbai till June 12, due to Cyclone Biparjoy.
Taking it to Twitter, IMD mentioned, “Severe Cyclonic storm Biparjoy over eastcentral and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea at 0830 IST of 07th June, near lat 12.7N and lon 66.2E, about 880km WSW of Goa. Likely to move nearly northwards and intensify into VSCS during next 12 hrs.”
