New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a Red alert for Goa on Saturday, forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the next few days. Mumbai also received a red alert for Tuesday, with the city experiencing 176 mm of rainfall in just three hours on July 9. The IMD reported that the monsoon has been particularly active in the coastal state over the last 24 hours. Due to heavy rains, low visibility is expected in the coastal areas of Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka. These states include Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. A specific rainfall alert was issued for Uttarakhand for July 9, predicting moderate to heavy showers along with lightning and thunderstorms. Heavy rains are also forecasted for the Tehri, Pauri, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital, and Champawat districts on July 10.In Delhi, the IMD predicted isolated moderate to heavy rains in some parts, with the minimum temperature recorded at 28 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Light rains were observed in parts of the city early in the day.A red alert was also issued for Mumbai and Pune on Monday, leading to the closure of schools and colleges in both cities on Tuesday. Educational institutions in Raigad were shut down due to heavy rain and waterlogging in some areas.Affected districtsThe forecast shared by the weather department has predicted heavy to moderate rainfall in several districts, including Palghar, Thane, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nasik, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Sangli, Sholapur, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal, up to July 12.
