The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning in Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Goa as the monsoon is changing its way and settling down in coastal Kerela, Karnataka, and Konkan Goa from Monday. With this, heavy rains and thunderstorms are predicted to occur in the coming days.

Conditions in Goa

The Goa education department announced that the schools in the state will remain shut till July 15, considering the preductions. The state saw heavy rain earlier this week after IMD issued a red alert in certain parts of the rain.

IMB alert in Kerela

Certain parts of Kerela including Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod got a red alert warning and an orange alert for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, and Wayanad. Schools will remain suspended in the state due to the monsoon conditions.

The states of Karnataka, Goa, and Kerela are predicted to receive about 20 cm of rainfall. Meanwhile in Maharashtra, districts of Satara, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, and Ratnagiri have gotten red alert warnings in already heavy rainfall all over the state. Mumbai and Palghar have received a yellow alert and Thane, Raigad, and Pune have also received an orange alert. Mumbai has been drowning in the rain as waterlogging occurs in all suburban areas and downpour continues.

Relief comes in Delhi with rains

Light showers and windy climate can be expected in Delhi NCR this week, but there is no alert issued from the meteorological department. Monsoon acted out in many parts of Delhi on Saturday causing traffic surges and waterlogging, bringing relief to people after the scorching heat of July. Noida also witnessed rains over the weekend.

As rains make their way through Maharashtra, the Kamwari river in the Bhiwandi area of Thane overflowed on Sunday, making people leave their houses.
