The India Meteorological Department on Saturday has issued ‘Orange Alert’ in view of heavy rains. The warning has been issued for Delhi & NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, East Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh. According to the tweet shared by IMD, “Prepare for Heavy to Very heavy rainfall (115.6 to 204.4 mm) from 8th to 10th July. Stay safe and take precautions.”
“Heavy to Very heavy with Extremely heavy rainfall (over 204.4 mm) expected on 8th & 9th July.” The department has warned people to be prepared for flooding and landslides in seven districts (Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur) of Himachal Pradesh.
Apart from Himachal Pradesh, an alert has also been issued for Uttarakhand, which is often referred as ‘Dev Bhoomi’. Taking it to Twitter, IMD mentioned, “Uttarakhand on high alert: Heavy to Very heavy with Extremely heavy rainfall (over 204.4 mm) expected on 9th July. Stay safe, be prepared for flooding and landslides.”
