India will see rain activities in most of its states today, September 14. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)has stated that the country’s capital New Delhi might also see light rain or drizzle today, September 14. In the coming four days, states including Delhi-NCR, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Gangetic West Bengal, among others, are expected to receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning.

IMD has mentioned that on September 14 and 15, Eastern India will experience active monsoon while at the same time monsoon rain activities will be seen in Central India from 14 to 17 September.Western India will see the monsoon rain from September 15 to 17, as per IMD. Rainfall will also be seen in in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand

Delhi-NCR weather reporters

According to IMD, light showers are expected in the national capital. The minimum temperature in New Delhi can be recorded at 26 degrees and the maximum temperature can be recorded at 35 degrees.

It further mentioned that New Delhi will likely see an increase in the intensity of rain from September 15. As such Delhi’s weather forecast suggests rainfall every day in the capital till Sunday.

Heavy rainfall in Uttar Pradesh

According to the IMD the minimum temperature in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, will be 27 degrees and the maximum temperature will be 34 degrees. Moreover, the reports say that Lucknow will have a cloudy sky today along with a few spells of rain and thunderstorms.

Talking about Ghaziabad, today the minimum temperature here will be 26 degrees and the maximum temperature will be 34 degrees. The sky is said to remain cloudy most of the time.

Odisha hit by extreme rainfall

In Odisha, where red alert was issued in several districts yesterday has been issued an orange alert for today. This rainfall in Odisha under the influence of the active low pressure that formed over northeast and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal.

IMD Regional Centre of Bhubaneswar has issued Red Warning alert for Boudh, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Bolangir and Kalahandi districts for heavy to very heavy rainfall up to 8.30 am today.

The orange alert issued today comprises of Nabarngpur, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Angul, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Ganjam districts of Odisha. The Odisha Special Relief Commission (SRC) has reviewed the situation and asked the district Collectors to take all precautions measures. 

IMD has also shared a post of X asking people to be cautious and to stay safe in Odisha.

What does IMD have to say about other states? 

According to weather reports, today light to moderate rain is possible in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Telangana along with heavy rain at some places.

Along with this, light rain is observed in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, North Punjab, parts of Haryana, Western Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sikkim, Northeast India, Marathwada.

There may be moderate rain. Light rain is possible in Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, East Gujarat, Central Maharashtra, South Coast of Andhra Pradesh, Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
