National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings for 2023 have been shared by the Minister of State for Education and External Affairs RajKumar Ranjan Singh, on Monday, June 5.
IIT Madras has maintained its status as the best engineering school for eight years in a row and the top college overall for the fifth consecutive year, respectively.
IIM-Ahmedabad is the best management school, yet three engineering schools are included in the top 10 business schools. IISc Bangalore has topped the rankings for best universities, followed by JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia. Additionally, three private universities made the list. In the meantime, AIIMS Delhi continues to hold the top spot in the category of medical colleges.

Expressing his joy, the Director of IIT Madras, Prof V Kamakoti said, “It gives me immense joy to share that IIT Madras has yet again emerged as a topper in the Overall and Engineering categories of the National Institute Rankings Framework 2023 conducted by the Union Ministry of Education. We will continue to take all the necessary actions to make IIT Madras a locally relevant and globally recognised institute.”
Apart from this Manipal Academy of Higher Education has retained the sixth position in the list, taking it to the official Twitter handle of the University, they mentioned, “We’re thrilled to announce that Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has been ranked 6th in the Universities category in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2023 by the Ministry of Education, GoI! 🎓A heartfelt congratulations to the entire MAHE family for this incredible achievement!”

From 2022 onward, the total number of institutions ranked in Management and Pharmacy has grown from 75 to 100 each. However, the number of institutions listed is limited to between 30 and 50 in the following subject areas: research institutes and the fields of architecture, law, medicine, and dentistry.
