New Delhi: A disturbing incident has been reported in Jharkhands Deoghar district where a maulvi named Hafiz Anwar has been accused of attempting to molest a minor girl. The girl had been experiencing stomach pain, and her mother took her to the maulvi, who attributed the pain to a devil inside her. He then summoned the girl to his place at night, allegedly to perform a ritual to rid her of the devil, but instead attempted physical violation. Maulvis shameful act Before starting the ritual, the maulvi told the girls mother, If your daughter screams, dont come inside, or the evil spirit will possess you. Then, he took the girl to a dark room and tried to molest her. He removed her clothes and started doing bad things to her. He touched her inappropriately and tried to rape her. Even when the girl screamed, he didnt stop and continued to do dirty things to her.Investigation is underway The girl pushed the maulvi and ran away. She told her family members about the incident. The victim went to the Pathrol police station with her family and filed a complaint against the maulvi. The police immediately registered a case and started investigating the incident.Such acts are a living example of how under the garb of getting desired results, religion is being used to harness peoples faith in godmen. Lack of economic resources and a absence of access to modern health infrastructure often lead people to take such steps. Meanwhile, people are exploited in the name of god and often fall prey to the hidden motives of such godmen. There is a severe need to take set examples by taking stringent actions against the perpretrators wh are involved in such crimes.
