Crime News: In Bhilai, Jharkhand, a disturbing case of blackmail and exploitation has emerged involving two young men who coerced a 12th-grade student into handing over jewelry worth several lakhs. The incident, which took place three months ago, has recently come to light, leading to the arrest of the accused following a police investigation.

Extortion scheme unveiled

The ordeal began when the accused, Abhishek Singh (22) and Priyanshu Pandey (23), manipulated the student into developing an addiction to bidis and cigarettes. Once the student was hooked, they filmed him smoking and used the footage as leverage to blackmail him. The threat of sharing the video with the student's family was used to extract huge sums of money.

As the extortion continued, the student was pressured to steal jewelry from his home. The accused managed to obtain jewelry worth over ₹12 lakh from the student, which they subsequently mortgaged at the Manappuram Gold Loan Company. The funds were then squandered on gambling.

Family uncovers truth

The situation came to light when the student's family noticed the missing jewelry and confronted him. Faced with the mounting evidence, the student revealed the full story of his exploitation and blackmail. This led his father, who is a well-known industrialist, to file a formal complaint with the police.

Legal proceedings

Following the complaint, the police took action, leading to the arrest of Singh and Pandey. After interrogation, the accused were presented in court and have been remanded to judicial custody. During questioning, the accused admitted that their knowledge of the victim's wealthy background motivated their scheme. They intentionally targeted him for extortion by introducing him to drug use and blackmailing him with incriminating footage.
