I tried to overpower assailant: Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan reveals disturbing details of stabbing attack in police statement

Maharahtra News: Actor Saif Ali Khan has provided a detailed statement to the police regarding the alarming attack on him at his residence last Thursday. This account was given to the Bandra Police two days after he was discharged from the hospital following the incident. In a harrowing narrative, Khan recounted waking up to the distressing screams emanating from his youngest son Jeh's room, leading him to confront the assailant.

Saif Ali Khan's Statement to Authorities

In his testimony, Saif Ali Khan described being in his bedroom with his wife, Kareena Kapoor, on the 11th floor of the Satguru Sharan building when they were abruptly awakened around 2:30 AM by the screams of their son Jeh's nanny, Eliyama Philips. Rushing to investigate, they encountered the intruder in their home, with Jeh crying in distress.

Khan attempted to subdue the intruder, but was met with violence as the attacker wielded a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds to Khan's back, neck, and hands. According to police sources, despite sustaining injuries, Khan managed to push the assailant back into the room while Philips fled with Jeh. He then secured the intruder inside.

Injuries and Medical Treatment

The attack left Saif Ali Khan with six significant injuries, including deep cuts on his neck and back. Following the incident, he was admitted to Lilavati Hospital early Thursday morning, where he underwent surgery to remove part of the knife embedded in his back and repair leaking spinal fluid. He was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday and returned home to his Bandra apartment.

Ongoing Protection for the Family

In response to this frightening event, authorities have implemented temporary security measures for Saif Ali Khan and his family. Police are providing two constables for their protection whenever they leave their residence.The suspect in this case is a Bangladeshi national who has been apprehended and is currently in police custody. Investigators have stated that he targeted Khan’s home for burglary and was unaware of the actor's celebrity status.
