New Delhi: A shocking video has surfaced online, showing rats munching on sweets inside a well-known shop in Delhi’s Bhajanpura area. The disturbing footage shows rats freely roaming and eating sweetmeats displayed in glass cases at Aggarwal Sweets, located at Khajoori Chowk.

In the video, rats can be seen jumping on trays and tasting the sweets on display without any attempt by staff to intervene. While the pests feast on the food, a staff member stands near the counter, seemingly indifferent to the situation. The shop's customers, too, remain unaware of the health hazard unfolding just a few feet away, as they continue making purchases in the busy establishment.

Social media outrage over hygiene

The video has gained widespread attention online, leading to outrage and ridicule across various social media platforms. One user on X (formerly Twitter) sarcastically commented, "It must be a pet rat," while another quipped, “What else do you expect inside a sweets shop, elephants?” Yet another questioned the state of law and order in the capital, wondering how such negligence could go unnoticed.

Despite the viral nature of the video, certain details remain murky, including the exact date it was shot and the full name of the establishment. However, the unsanitary conditions captured in the footage have sparked concerns about food safety and hygiene in popular eateries.
