Dowry is still prevalent in India despite being illegal under the Dowry Prohibition Act of 1961. The practice of dowry, where the brides family provides money, gifts, or property to the grooms family, persists due to deep-rooted cultural traditions and societal expectations. Now, in a recent incident, due to non-fulfillment of dowry demand, the husband first tortured his wife badly and when she protested, he shaved her head and filled her private parts with red chilli powder. After this tragic incident, the parents of the victim took her to Sadarpur police station and filed a complaint against the accused. Police have registered a case.Whats full matter While filing a complaint to the police station in-charge Sadarpur, a woman resident of Manpur police station area said that she was married to Mahua Danda Sadarpur resident of Rizwan son of Salim three years ago according to Muslim customs. Due to non-fulfillment of dowry demand, husband Rizwan started torturing the victim physically and mentally. On Friday, the victims husband came home angrily and started abusing. When the victim refused to stop abusing her husband, he was badly kicked, punched and beaten with sticks and he cut the hair from her head with a hair cutting machine and shaved it.Filled her delicate body parts with chilli powderThe cruel husband and his family members were not satisfied with this and taunted the victim for her bad behavior and filled her delicate body parts with chilli powder. Upon receiving information, people from her maternal side brought the victim to the police station and filed a complaint. Police station in-charge Rakesh Singh said that a complaint has been received, the victim woman has been sent to CHC Biswan for medical treatment. A case has been registered against the accused under many serious sections including dowry harassment, assault, threatening to kill, molestation and the accused are being searched.
