The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) celebrated a significant victory on Friday as the Supreme Court granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the high-profile excise policy case. The decision brought immense relief to AAP leaders, who had been anxiously awaiting the judgment.

In a video shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), key AAP members, including Manish Sisodia and Atishi, are seen gathered around a laptop, listening intently to the Supreme Court's verdict. The moment the court announced Kejriwal’s bail, visible signs of relief and joy swept through the group. Leaders embraced each other, sharing smiles and handshakes, symbolizing the end of a tense chapter in the party’s legal battles.

Kejriwal’s bail marks a legal turning point

The Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail comes as a pivotal development in the excise policy case, which has been under intense scrutiny by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The Delhi Chief Minister had previously been granted interim bail in a separate money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.

Arvind Kejriwal’s legal troubles began when he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 as part of a probe into alleged irregularities concerning the excise policy. Later, on June 26, he was taken into custody by the CBI while still under ED detention.

While the bail verdict brings temporary respite, legal proceedings in the excise policy case are expected to continue. The CBI and ED investigations will persist, focusing on the allegations of corruption and money laundering tied to the controversial policy.
