An uncanny incident has been reported from Hyderabad, where a woman who has been identified as Bhogireddy Trisha, the Managing Director of five startup companies, allegedly stalked and then kidnapped TV anchor Pranav Sistla after she was duped for Rs 40 lakh by an unknown individual who used Pranav's photo in his profile on a matrimonial site.
The woman now has been arrested by police for kidnapping to marry him. According to the sources, she allegedly installed a tracking device on the TV anchor’s car to stalk him and monitor his movements.
Almost two years back, the 31-year-old woman, who owns a digital marketing company, started chatting with the account user after seeing the TV anchor's pictures on a marriage website. She later discovered, though, that the account holder had been using the TV anchor's picture, rather than his own as his matrimonial site profile picture.
Subsequently, she perused the profile and discovered the anchor's phone number. When she reached out to the anchor via an instant messaging app, he told her that he had reported the matter to the Cyber Crime police station because someone else had used his photo to create a phony account on the marriage website.
Still, the woman continued sending messages to the anchor. The woman then planned to kidnap the anchor to get things sorted and marry him. Simultaneously, she hired four people to kidnap the anchor, who allegedly took him to a woman’s office and beat him up badly.
The victim later complained to the Uppal police station, and a case was registered under 363 (kidnapping), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Meanwhile, the woman has been arrested and the investigation into the case is on.
