Fake BSF ID (File Image)
In a shocking case of fraud, a man was arrested by the Indirapuram police in Ghaziabad for allegedly running a fake organization under the name of the Border Security Force (BSF). The accused had created a fake group named Anti Crime Organization Vasundhara Protection Foundation (BSF). He would charge a membership fee of ₹1,100 and provide members with counterfeit identification cards and uniforms that resembled official BSF gear. Over 50 individuals have reported falling victim to this fraudulent scheme.
The case came to light when a video went viral on social media showing a man in plain clothes attaching stars to the shoulder of another person in a police uniform. After taking cognizance of the video, the Indirapuram police began investigating and identified the man in the video as Yadram Arya, a resident of Mubarakpur, Delhi.
Upon arrest, Yadram Arya confessed to being the founder of the Anti Crime Organization Vasundhara Protection Foundation and claimed that his organization was linked to the government, including the Ministry of Home Affairs and the police. He recruited people by offering them the promise of government recognition, issuing them uniforms, and ID cards with false logos of the BSF. Members were led to believe that they could use these ID cards to avoid toll taxes and traffic fines.
Arya distributed fake identification cards that featured the names of the Ministry of Home Affairs, BSF, and the Indian Government. These cards falsely stated that the police commissioner had been informed about the member's registration. Upon investigation, the police found multiple fake IDs, uniforms, letterheads, and other documents in Arya’s possession.
The police are currently probing further into the operations of the fake organization, seeking to determine how many people were involved and how much illegal money was extorted through this scam. The police are also investigating the two locations listed as the organization's headquarters: Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, and Mubarakpur, Delhi.
According to ACP Abhishek Srivastava, the accused had a history as a tailor before starting his fraudulent organization, using it to illegally profit by duping people with false promises of official government affiliations.
