New Delhi: Delhi police arrested 23-year-old Tushar Bisht in a case of online extortion where he duped 700 women on dating apps like Bumble and Snapchat. The fake US-based model used pictures with a Brazilian passport to tempt the victim into providing him with intimate content, for which he blackmailed them and demanded money later.
Tushar Bisht, a 23-year-old technical recruiter from Delhi. He used to contact girls in the age bracket of 18 to 30 years through Bumble, Snapchat, and WhatsApp. He portrayed himself as a freelance model based in the US, coming to India. He used an international virtual number with pictures of a Brazilian model. His goal was simple: gain their confidence, convince them to share intimate content, and then blackmail them for money.
Bishit use to blackmail women by taking intimate pictures and videos of people for them, which would be with them, to make them gain confidence. Then he blackmails them, stating he will upload those on the internet or will sell it to the dark web if they don't pay money. Bishit had mainly concentrated on such girls and women found present at dating websites. They have no idea what sort of vicious thinking Bishit harbored, from whom she developed confidence.
The scam came to the fore on December 13 when a Delhi University student reported Bisht to the cyber police. Coerced into sending private material, she was also coerced into making small payments. Eventually, she told her family, and it led to the police investigation. His vast network of fake identities and criminal activity came to the fore when incriminating material on his phone was found, including 13 credit cards from various banks.
Bisht, who resides in Shakarpur, told the police it was a well-planned extortion racket. He told them that he had private content of many women whom he used for blackmailing to extort money from them. The police found several credit cards from different bank accounts, which reveals that the magnitude of his illegal trade was vast.
