A horrific incident has been reported from Pondicheerys Sholai Nagar, where a nine-year-old girl has been brutally raped and dumped in drain with hands tied. The case come into notice when one of the family members reported that the child went missing from her home on March 2 was recovered from a drain near her house on Padasalai Veedhi at Sholai Nagar.While the police claimed to have launched a search immediately after the girls parents filed a missing complaint on Saturday, the body of Arthi wrapped in a bed-sheet like material was found inside a drain situated just a few meters away from her house around 2 PM on Tuesday.According to the information, the police have nabbed four people in connection with this case so far. Meanwhile, the body of the child has been shifted to mortuary of the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Research Institute and the post-mortem will be conducted at the Jawaharlal Institute of Post graduate Medical Education and Research.Outrage among peopleProtests in Pondicherry broke out when the tragedy became public, calling for the girls justice. Protesters called for the accused to face harsh penalties. Along with her parents and other family members, a sizable crowd gathered and blocked the MG Road.In order to take action to apprehend those responsible for the girls death, independent legislator Prakash Kumar submitted a memo to the director general of police.
