New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah led a high-level security review meeting focused on Jammu and Kashmir, addressing critical aspects of security and counter-terrorism efforts in the region.

Reviewing Security Measures

Amit Shah delved into the functioning of the security grid, scrutinizing recent attacks in the Union Territory and assessing the effectiveness of current security measures.

Enhancing Coordination Among Forces

Emphasising complete area domination, the Home Minister stressed the importance of seamless coordination between the Police, Army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) stationed in Jammu and Kashmir.

Strengthening Local Intelligence

Recognizing the significance of local intelligence, Shah underscored the need to enhance and fortify intelligence networks within the Union Territory.

The meeting was attended by Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, NIA DG Dinkar Gupta, DGs of CRPF and BSF, along with relevant officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Jammu and Kashmir.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and Army Chief General Manoj Pande were also present.

Context:

This high-level review comes in the aftermath of a recent encounter in Rajouri's Poonch region, where four soldiers lost their lives. The discussions included aspects like the area domination plan, zero-terror plan, law and order situation, UAPA-related cases, and other security concerns.

Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a surge in militant activities, and the meeting aimed to strategize and reinforce security measures to address the evolving challenges.

Amit Shah had previously chaired similar reviews, demonstrating the government's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and an unwavering focus on national security.
