New Delhi: Maharashtra continues to witness a surge in hit-and-run incidents, with the latest shocking case emerging from Thane district. A viral video circulating on social media shows a harrowing hit-and-run involving an SUV, where a youth is first thrown off the bonnet and then dragged on the road. The incident has sparked widespread outrage, and the police have launched an investigation into the matter.

Terrifying sequence of events

In the viral video, several luxury cars can be seen parked haphazardly along the road. The footage captures an altercation between two vehicles—a white SUV and a black SUV. The confrontation quickly escalates, resulting in the driver of the black SUV recklessly speeding off with a man clinging to the bonnet. Moments later, the driver throws the man onto the road and continues to drag him before taking a U-turn and crashing into the white SUV. The impact is so severe that smoke begins to billow from the vehicle.

Incident location, casualties

The hit-and-run incident occurred near Ambarnath-Jambhul Phata in Thane around 11 am on Tuesday. The video shows the SUV driver attempting to run over several people, including women and children seated inside the white SUV, who sustained injuries. Fortunately, despite the terrifying ordeal, no fatalities were reported. The reckless behavior of the SUV driver left bystanders in shock and fear.

Hit-and-run cases in Maharashtra

This disturbing incident is not an isolated case in Maharashtra. Hit-and-run accidents have become alarmingly common in the state. Recently, Pune and Mumbai have witnessed similar tragic events. In Pune, two IT engineers, Aneesh Avadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, lost their lives when a Porsche, driven by a minor, rammed into their bike. In another incident, a woman was dragged to her death by a BMW driven by Mihir Shah, the son of a Shiv Sena leader, in Mumbai.
