Hit-and-run at Goa’s Usgao, head of victim found a kilometre away; driver arrested

The deceased has been identified as Anand Dharma Naik, a resident of Mharvapaz-Usgao on Ponda was crossing the road, when the incident happened. According to the reports, the head of the victim fell into a nearby MRF factory on the route. Surprisingly, the driver came to know about the incident when the police traced his truck parked at a rubber factory.

Another horrific incident of hit-and-run has surfaced from Goa, where a 10-wheeler interstate truck crashed into a pedestrian and drove over his head, which made his head land a kilometre away from the site. As per officials, the driver was not aware of the accident and the head of the victim must have got stuck between the gap in between the wheels.

The deceased who has been identified as Anand Dharma Naik, a resident of Mharvapaz-Usgao on Ponda was crossing the road, when the incident happened. According to the reports, the head of the victim fell into a nearby MRF factory on the route. Surprisingly, the driver came to know about the incident when the police traced his truck parked at a rubber factory.

Police said that prime-facie it was seemingly a blank hit-and-run, but they succeeded in tracking him with the help of CCTV footage. Reportedly, passersby were also horrified when they saw the disfigured body. The police have retrieved the disfigured body and sent it for autopsy which is likely to be conducted on Friday. 

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case against the driver under IPC sections 279 and 304-A; the investigation in the case is on.

It is worth noting that the incident has come after several hit-and-run cases have been reported from Maharashtra, including the Pune Porsche car crash, which had initiated outrage among people after 17-year-old was bailed within hours of mowing down two Pune engineers. The case is under investigation now.
