Delhi: Delhi is set to witness a historic political transition as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rekha Gupta takes the oath as the new Chief Minister at a grand ceremony in Ramlila Maidan on Thursday. She will be accompanied by six cabinet ministers, marking the formation of the new BJP-led government in the capital. The swearing-in ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP leaders, signaling a new political era for Delhi after the party’s landslide victory in the recent assembly elections.

List of ministers taking oath

According to a gazette notification, the following BJP leaders will be sworn in as cabinet ministers alongside CM-designate Rekha Gupta:

  • Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma
  • Manjinder Singh Sirsa
  • Kapil Mishra
  • Ashish Sood
  • Pankaj Kumar Singh
  • Raviraj Indraj
  • Parvesh Verma: The "Giant Killer" of Delhi Politics

One of the most prominent names in the new cabinet, Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, played a crucial role in BJP's electoral triumph. A powerful Jat leader, Verma stunned political observers by defeating Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency by a narrow margin of 4,089 votes. Having served as West Delhi’s Lok Sabha MP from 2014 to 2024, Verma was considered a strong contender for the Chief Minister’s post. His victory over Kejriwal, a sitting CM and national party leader, has further cemented his position as a rising force in Delhi politics.

BJP’s resurgence in Delhi

The BJP swept the Delhi Assembly elections, securing 48 out of 70 seats and ending the decade-long dominance of AAP in the national capital. With Rekha Gupta at the helm, the party aims to implement key reforms, improve governance, and reshape Delhi’s political landscape. As Delhi gears up for the new government’s tenure, all eyes will be on the incoming leadership’s policies and their impact on the capital’s development and administration.
