New Delhi: The Assam Assembly has recently abolished the long-standing three-hour break for Friday prayers, a move that has sparked discussion across the state. The BJP Assam Pradesh took to X, a social media platform, to announce, "The rule of three-hour adjournment for Friday prayers in Assam Assembly by Syed Sadullah has been rejected. From now on, there will be no break for Friday prayers in the House."

Maulana's preaching out loud

A recent statement by Maulana Sajid Rashidi has added to the ongoing conversation. In a widely circulated video, Rashidi predicted that by 2029, Assam's Chief Minister would be a Muslim, specifically naming Himanta Biswa Sharma, who he claimed would be known as Mudasir Rahman. The accuracy and implications of this prediction have generated significant debate. As with any political forecast, reactions have varied, and it is crucial to consider the broader context when evaluating such statements.
