A delegation from TIPRA Motha met with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, where they placed their demand for a constitutional solution to achieve a Greater Tipraland state.The demands were spearheaded by Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the chief of Tipraha Indigenous Peoples Regional Alliance (TIPRA Motha Party) and the royal scion of the erstwhile kingdom of Tripura.VIDEO | Our agenda is very clear – a constitutional solution for Tipraland. So we spoke on those issues and we have been very clear that we are not interested in anything else,” he added.Greater Tipraland refers to a proposed state that will be carved out of Tripura, which will be inhabited by the Tiprasa (the indigenous inhabitants of Tripura). The Tipraland will be a state for the 19 indigenous tribes of the state, which can be carved out under Articles 2 and 3 of the Indian Constitution. The new state will not exclude either the majority Hindu population or the 9% minority Muslim population, TIPRA Motha leader Jagadish Debbarma said.Centres attention on Manipur dont want a similar situation in Tripura: TIPRA ChiefSpeaker to the reporters, TMP leader Debbarma said that the situation in Manipur is unfortunate and Tripura should not have to face similar ethnic violence.
