Kerala experienced heavy rainfall in several parts of the state affecting the normal life of the residents. A ‘yellow alert’ has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in 13 out of 14 districts of the southern state. Only the district of Kottayam has been has been issued with an alert.
The weather agency predicts heavy rainfall between 6 cm and 11 cm.

Visuals show that many trees have been uprooted, walls are collapsing and trees were uprooted in many regions. No major casualty has been reported so far from anywhere in the state after Kerala experienced two days of consecutive rain.
Hundreds of acres of paddy fields are submerged under water at Edathua, according to media reports. This region is a tiny hamlet in the Kuttanad region in Alappuzha district.
Moreover, the district authorities had said that the shutters of the Aruvikkara Dam, near the capital Thiruvananthapuram have been raised up to 160 cm as the whole state is engulfed in a continuous spree of showers.
As the rain is expected to intensify in the coming hours, the state Disaster Management Authority urged people living in high range to maintain extra vigil and directed fishermen not to venture into the sea
