New Delhi: India’s richest woman and chairperson of the OP Jindal Group, Savitri Jindal (74), has officially filed her nomination to contest the Hisar seat as an independent candidate in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections. This decision came after the ruling BJP denied her a ticket and chose Kamal Gupta, a current state minister, as its candidate from Hisar.

Speaking to the media, Jindal expressed her commitment to honoring the wishes of the people of Hisar. “Hisar, which is my family, is saying that the election has to be fought. I have to obey their wishes. I can’t say ‘no’,” she stated. Jindal, a former Congress MLA, decided to run after her supporters expressed disappointment over the BJP’s refusal to offer her the seat.
