New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken the lead in the Haryana Assembly elections by releasing its first list of candidates, which covers 67 of the state's 90 constituencies. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is among the prominent names, set to contest from the Ladwa assembly constituency.

Former minister Anil Vij, another significant figure, will be running for the Ambala Cantonment seat, a constituency he has successfully represented in three consecutive elections since 2009.

Saini, previously a Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra, was appointed as Haryana's chief minister in March, succeeding Manohar Lal Khattar. In June, he secured the Karnal Assembly seat through a bypoll, marking his current representation.

Key candidates announced

In the first list, CM Manohar Lal Khattar will contest from Ladwa, while senior BJP leader Anil Vij has been fielded from Ambala Cantt. These names reflect the party's strategy to retain its stronghold in key constituencies and continue its momentum from previous elections.

Finalizing the list

The decision-making process involved multiple rounds of deliberations among the party's top brass, including state and national leadership. The meeting concluded with the selection of more than 50 candidates, a significant portion of the total assembly seats.

Voting day

The Haryana elections will take place on October 5, with 90 seats in the assembly up for grabs. With this candidate announcement, the BJP is gearing up for a competitive electoral battle in a state that has seen a dynamic political landscape in recent years.
