Haridwar: Family discovers minor daughter was raped, is eight month pregnant

Haridwar: In a distressing incident that has sent shockwaves through Haridwar, a minor girl was allegedly raped and subsequently discovered to be pregnant, leading to the arrest of a minor boy implicated in the crime. The case unfolded when the victim's health deteriorated, revealing her advanced state of pregnancy.

Incident came to light when the minor was taken to hospital

The harrowing ordeal came to light when the minor girl, whose identity remains protected, was taken to the hospital. It was here that the shocking discovery was made—she was eight months pregnant. The parents, grappling with disbelief and shock, reported the matter to the authorities.

Police ensured swift action 

Following the complaint lodged by the victim's mother at the city Kotwali police station, a swift police operation ensued. The accused, also a minor, was apprehended after a targeted raid based on intelligence gathered by the police.

"The accused was presented before the Juvenile Justice Board and has been sent to a Child Protection Home," stated Kundan Singh Rana, the in-charge of the police station, confirming the legal steps taken against the juvenile under relevant sections of the law, including those pertaining to rape.
