Haldwani violence: In a decisive move against the perpetrators of the Haldwani violence, the Nainital police have confiscated the properties of six accused individuals, including the alleged mastermind Abdul Malik and his son Abdul Moid. The administration intends to repurpose the reclaimed land in Banbhoolpura for a child care center.

Under Section 83 of the CrPC, the Nainital police initiated the seizure of assets belonging to the fugitive suspects implicated in the Haldwani violence. The crackdown began on Friday, targeting the properties of the absconding accused.

Haldwani violence: Increased arrests, seizures

The Nainital police have intensified their efforts, arresting an additional 14 rioters, bringing the total number of apprehensions to 58. Among the seized items are a firearm magazine and petrol bombs. Posters displaying the images of three recently arrested rioters, along with a total of nine individuals, have been prominently displayed across the city.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prahlad Meena stated, "Based on CCTV footage and other evidence, we have apprehended 14 more rioters involved in the Haldwani violence."

Haldwani violence: Curfew relaxed in Banbhoolpura

In Banbhoolpura, signs of normalcy are beginning to emerge as the curfew has been lifted from most areas, except for a 100-meter perimeter around the recently freed land. Nighttime curfew remains in effect within the Banbhoolpura police station jurisdiction. District Magistrate Vandana Singh expressed optimism, stating, "The situation will soon return to normal, allowing residents to resume their daily activities."

Haldwani violence: Vehicles licenses cancelled, plans for day-care center

The Nainital administration has taken stringent measures against the accused, revoking the licenses of vehicles associated with mining activities in the Gola river, Ramnagar. Furthermore, plans are underway to establish a day-care center for the children of laborers engaged in mining work. District Magistrate Vandana Singh highlighted the initiative's aim to foster creativity among children and deter them from engaging in criminal activities.

Amidst the developments, the Uttarakhand BJP has alleged that one of the arrested suspects, Maukeen Saifi, has ties to the Congress, identifying him as a Youth Congress leader. Manvir Singh Chauhan, Uttarakhand's BJP media in-charge, demanded a public apology from the Congress, accusing them of playing divisive politics.

State Congress Vice-President (Organisation) Mathura Dutt Joshi refuted the allegations, asserting that the accused had been expelled from the Youth Congress long ago. Joshi dismissed the BJP's claims as baseless attempts to deflect attention from their failure to address the Haldwani violence effectively.
