The Anjuman Intezamia Committee, which represents the Muslim side in the Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri dispute, filed a petition on Wednesday challenging the maintainability of the Hindu side’s argument, but the Allahabad High Court dismissed it. Hindu believers asked for permission to worship Hindu gods every day in the Gyanvapi mosque.

The case was decided by Justice JJ Munir’s only bench. The Muslim side’s argument contested the Varanasi district court’s decision that the case brought by the Hindu worshipper was maintainable. The court heard all seven cases related to the Gyanvapi dispute on Wednesday.

The district court in September last year, also rejected the pleas submitted by the Anjuman Intezamia Committee which challenged the request of the Hindu worshippers. Following this the committee approached the Allahabad high court.

After the ruling by the court, lawyer Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi said that it is a big win for the Hindu side. he said, “We welcome the decision of the court to dismiss Order 7 Rule CPC plea filed by Anjuman Intazamia Mosque Committee which has also challenged the maintainability of the suit of five Hindu women worshippers seeking the right to worship inside the mosque.”

Apart from this, the mosque committee had also sought the restoration of a temple inside the mosque. Vishnu Shankar Jain, who was representing the Hindu side called it ‘a historic verdict.’
