A team from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) continues its scientific assessment of the Gyanvapi complex on Monday. According to a lawyer from the Hindu side, there will be a little delay in the beginning of the survey today because it is the fifth Monday of the Sawan month. Notably, it is the fourth day of the survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex, adjacent to Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

“Survey work is currently being done. In addition, the Anjuman Intezamia Committee is helping with the survey. Since today is the fifth Monday of “Sawan” month, there may be a slight delay in the survey’s launch,” according to Sudhir Tripathi, an attorney for the Hindu side.

Apart from this, Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi, Advocate representing the Hindu side on the Gyanvapi case said, “ASI is conducting the survey in a systematic and scientific manner. Measurements are being done; it will take some time. They will submit the report in the court after the survey is completed.”

Meanwhile, talking to reporters on Sunday, an advocate from the Hindu side stated that the Muslim side has followed the court’s order and is completely cooperating with the survey.

“The ASI is doing its work smoothly. The Muslim side has followed the court’s order and has fully cooperated with the survey. Every modern technique is being used for the survey. In the future also the work will continue according to the court’s order,” Advocate Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi said.

Noteworthy is, that an appeal from the Muslim side, made by the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee, was rejected by the Allahabad High Court on Thursday. The appeal contested the Varanasi court order allowing the ASI to conduct a scientific survey of the Gyanvapi mosque grounds, except the Wazukhana area where a ‘Shivling’ was allegedly discovered last year.
