Gyanvapi: Bareilly tense after Maulana Raza arrest over call for 'Jail Bharo'

Tauqeer Raza gave a 'Jail Bharo' call on Thursday and asked his supporters to follow in the protest against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's 'Kashi, Mathura' remarks.

A large crowd gathered in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh following arrest of Chief of Ittehad-e-Millat Council, Bareilly Sharif, Maulana Tauqeer Raza's call of 'Jail Bharo' over Gyanvapi case.

According to the information, Raza has been detained by police on friday.

Tauqeer Raza gave a 'Jail Bharo' call on Thursday and asked his supporters to follow in the protest against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's 'Kashi, Mathura' remarks in state Assembly that Muslims should wilfully give up their claim on Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi and Shahi Idgah mosque in Mathura. 

Following the call, thousands of protestors gathered after Friday prayers. 

According to the information, thousands of police personnels are on the ground to maintain law and order.

While addressing the assembly on Wednesday, CM Yogi said, "Lord Shri Krishna asked (Duryodhan) for half (of the property), but if that was difficult, then give only five villages. He talked about 5 villages. But the Hindu society and faith here are talking about only three (Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura)."
