Gurugram, Haryana: In an unexpected turn of events, a section of the road on an elevated flyover in Gurugram, Haryana, recently collapsed, raising concerns about infrastructure safety. State Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, however, attributed the incident to what he termed a "natural phenomenon."
Addressing the media, Deputy CM Chautala stated, "The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will provide insights into the collapse. However, it was a natural phenomenon, and there was no man-made fault." The assertion left many questioning the rationale behind such an event being termed as natural.
Despite the incident, Chautala took the opportunity to applaud the BJP-led state government's efforts. "For the first time in Haryana's history, Rs 4,000 crores have been allocated for road development, with a special emphasis on rural connectivity under the central government's 'PM Gramin Sadak' scheme. This incident, unfortunate as it is, does not detract from our commitment to good governance," he added.
The construction of the elevated flyover on Sohna Road commenced in 2019 and concluded in 2021. It was officially opened to the general public in 2022. The collapse, occurring post the inauguration, has prompted concerns about the quality and safety protocols involved in the construction.
As authorities investigate the causes behind the flyover collapse, questions loom over the safety standards of infrastructure projects. The incident, termed a "natural phenomenon," raises eyebrows, and citizens await a thorough investigation by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority.
Stay tuned for updates on the Gurugram flyover mishap as authorities delve into the details of this unforeseen event.
