New Delhi: A distressing incident in Delhi left a woman traumatized after she was allegedly harassed by a cab driver while traveling with her husband and two-year-old daughter. The incident occurred on the occasion of Rakshabandhan as the family was heading to a relatives home. During the ride, the couples young daughter began feeling unwell and vomited, prompting the woman to move to the front seat next to the driver, while her husband sat in the back.According to the woman, the cab driver began making inappropriate gestures and touched her inappropriately during the journey. Initially, she tried to ignore his actions, but when the driver continued his behavior, she informed her husband and decided to report the incident to the police. The police promptly responded to the call, arriving at the scene to apprehend the 21-year-old driver, identified as Mohammad Yusuf. He was arrested and subsequently presented in court, where he was remanded to judicial custody.Gurugram at the center of crimeSharing details of the case, a police spokesperson said, “On Monday, a 38-year-old woman was traveling from Gurugram to Delhi with her husband and daughter when the driver sexually harassed her. The accused has been taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing.” The victim recounted her experience to the police, stating, “I was sitting in the front seat with my daughter, who needed air conditioning due to vomiting. My husband was seated in the back.The driver began touching my private parts, but I initially ignored it. When we reached Dhaula Kuan, he made lewd gestures and started unzipping his pants. Thats when I realized the severity and alerted my husband, after which we called the police.” The couple ensured the driver did not escape by keeping him at the scene until law enforcement arrived. The case is currently under further investigation.
