New Delhi: A deeply disturbing incident has emerged from Amreli, Gujarat, where a one-year-old child tragically lost his life after being bitten by his grandmother. According to reports, 50-year-old Kulsan Syed has been charged with murder following the child’s death.

The heartbreaking case came to light when the child’s grandfather rushed him to the civil hospital in a critical condition. Despite efforts to save him, the child passed away during treatment. Initially registered as an accidental death, the post-mortem at Bhavnagar Civil Hospital revealed bite marks on the child's body, prompting the police to investigate further.

Details of the incident

As per the FIR, the incident occurred on September 3 when Kulsan was resting with her two grandchildren. When the toddler began crying, Kulsan allegedly lost her temper after being unable to calm him. In a fit of rage, she bit the child several times on his face, hands, and feet. Investigating officer MJ Barot confirmed that the child had been bitten six to seven times. The grandmother also reportedly kicked the child during the assault.

Kulsan has expressed deep remorse for her actions, stating that she never intended to kill her grandson. The police, however, have registered a case, and Kulsan remains in custody. The child’s father and grandfather, both truck drivers, were initially reluctant to file a complaint, but the police proceeded with the case to ensure justice. Authorities will now record statements from family members before a magistrate to avoid any potential changes in testimony.
