Taking note of the prevalent Covid-19 situation, the Union Health Ministry of India has further eased Covid-19 guidelines for international visitors. According to the new guidelines, the government has dropped the earlier requirement for RT-PCR-based testing of a random 2% subset of international travellers.

Notably, the new guidelines will come into effect from July 20. However, the earlier advice and precautionary measures to be followed by airlines as well as international travellers in the context of Covid-19 shall continue to apply.

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare continues to follow the COVID-19 scenario closely.

Guidelines for International Arrivals

  • All travellers who are planning to travel should preferably be fully vaccinated as per the approved primary schedule of vaccination against COVID-19 in their Country.
  • In-flight announcement about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic including precautionary measures to be followed.
  • Any passenger having symptoms of COVID-19 during travel shall be isolated as per standard protocol.
  • De-boarding should be done ensuring physical distancing.
  • Thermal screening should be done in respect of all the passengers by the health officials present at the point of entry.
