Gopesh posing as Ahmed threatens to blow up Agra airport, arrested | WATCH

New Delhi: Security measures were heightened at Agra Airport and Cantonment Railway Station following an anonymous email threatening bomb attacks. The email, sent to the Lucknow Police Headquarters, claimed that 50 kilograms of RDX would be placed at Agra Airport on August 3, followed by an explosion at the railway station.

Thorough search operations were conducted

Upon receiving the threat, the Uttar Pradesh Police swiftly notified the Agra Commissionerate. The Special Task Force (STF) and local police rushed to both locations, conducting thorough search operations to ensure public safety. Inspector Kushal Pal Singh of Shahganj Police Station confirmed that special security arrangements have been implemented at both the airport and the railway station.

Threat investigation

The anonymous email, purportedly from "K Ahmed" with the email address KAhemed436@gmail.com, dared the police and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to prevent the attacks. This prompted a comprehensive investigation by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and STF to trace the email's origin and assess its credibility.

Gopesh stole Ahmed's phone

The police have arrested 21-year-old Gopesh from Rajasthan, who is accused of orchestrating the threat. Investigations revealed that Gopesh stole Ahmed's phone, created an email ID, and sent the threatening email to the Agra Police. He targeted the UP Police specifically, believing they would swiftly act against Ahmed.

What did the police say?

Inspector Kushal Pal Singh stated, "Special security arrangements have been implemented at both the airport and the railway station to ensure public safety." The police have registered a case against unidentified individuals and are thoroughly investigating the email's origin. The ATS and STF are actively involved in tracing the sender and evaluating the threat's seriousness.
