Google restores Naukri, 99acres apps after Centre steps in

Search engine giant Google has restored few of India-based mobile applications on Play Store after the government intervened in to resolve the dispute by calling a meeting. 

This development comes after Centre called a meeting to resolve dispute raised by Google as it removed apps of 10 Indian companies, including well-known matrimony and job search platforms like Bharat Matrimony and Naukri, amidst a disagreement regarding service fee payments in one of its rapidly expanding markets. 

Google restored these apps

Google has however reinstated some flagship apps of Info Edge India, such as Naukri, 99acres, Naukri Gulf, Shaadi app, among others were also back on Play Store on Saturday aftermoon. 

Google faced intense criticism 

The tech giant Google faced huge criticism on social media, with some slamming the company for its monopolitistic practices. 

Union Minister  opposed Google's move

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw criticised Google's move to delist some apps. He said the government will not allow delisting of apps from now onwards. 

Google removed 10 apps 

Google has recently removed 10 apps from Play Store in India. The list includes some popular matrimony apps such as Bharat Matrimony, Matrimony.com, Christain Matrimony, Muslim Matrimony, and Jodii.
