Bhopal News: The shortcomings in railway management within the West Central Railway’s Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Kota divisions are becoming increasingly evident. Over the past three months, four train derailments have been reported, yet railway authorities appear to have taken little corrective action. Despite these alarming incidents, including two engine failures in Bhopal division alone, there has been no major change in their approach to safety.

The latest derailment occurred on Monday when a goods train traveling at 50 kmph derailed between Misrod and Mandideep railway stations near Bhopal at around 12:30 PM. Four coaches of the train, which was en route from Farukh Nagar to Bengaluru, went off the tracks. The train was transporting a variety of goods, including four-wheelers, two-wheelers, and other merchandise.

Prompt action following derailment

Immediately after the derailment, the loco pilot used a walkie-talkie to inform the station master and control room. While the exact cause of the derailment is still under investigation, railway officials have confirmed that a team from Bhopal is working on the issue. According to sources, it may take some time to get the derailed wheels back on track.

Rail traffic unaffected due to third line

Despite the derailment, the overall rail traffic on the busy Bhopal-Itarsi route remains unaffected. Railway officials have confirmed that trains are being diverted via the third line, ensuring that there are no delays or disruptions to the schedule. This precautionary measure has ensured that passenger trains continue to operate on time, minimizing any inconvenience caused by the incident.

Officials' statement

Naval Agarwal, ACM and spokesperson for the Bhopal division, stated, “It will take time to bring the wheels of the train back on track. The work is being supervised by senior officials to ensure a swift resolution.”
