Two wagons of goods train derails in Belagavi, Karnataka

Two wagons of a freight train derailed while coming into a railway station in Karnataka's Belagavi on Tuesday. It disrupted movement of trains both up and down from Belagavi and some of the trains had to be regulated.

Two wagons of goods train derailed in Belagavi, Karnataka (file )

Karnataka: The two wagons derailed while approaching the railway station around 7.30 am, as the train was proceeding towards Miraj. Railway personnel rushed to the location and assessed the situation. Since the location of the derailed wagons was accessible from the Belagavi-Khanapur road, passersby also gathered at the location to gather news of the accident.

South Western Railway reports

South Western Railway reported that the trains up to Londa - Miraj were controlled at Desur, Mysuru –Belagavi Express were controlled at Khanapur, Bengaluru–Sangli Expressed were controlled at Londa, Bengaluru–Jodhpur Express were controlled at Devrai Tirupathi–Kolhapur on arrival at Hubballi. Trains downwards Ajmer -Bengaluru Express were controlled at Raibag, Miraj–Hubballi were controlled at Kudachi, Dadar Central–Puduchery were controlled at Ghataprabha and Dadar–Hubballi were controlled at Sulebhavi.

Train has been sent from Hubballli

One accident relief train has been sent from Hubballli to the location to facilitate speedy restoration. Suitable arrangements have been provided for the disturbed passengers at concerned stations. The general manager, assistant general manager and other senior officers are keeping a tab on the situation and restoration is in progress.
