Bihar Crime News: A husband reportedly attacked his pregnant wife with a knife and a screwdriver, leaving her in critical condition and requiring extensive medical treatment in Buxar, Bihar. The brutal attack unfolded when the husband locked his wife in a room and began his assault. Neighbors, hearing the womans screams, attempted to intervene but were initially met with silence. Eventually, they forced their way into the home and discovered the injured woman, who was promptly taken to the hospital for emergency care.Critical medical conditionUpon arrival at the hospital, the situation was dire the attending doctors quickly referred the woman to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) due to the severity of her injuries. Reports indicate that she received an astonishing 70 stitches to treat the wounds inflicted during the attack. As she continues to receive medical attention, her condition remains critical. Dr. S.C. Mishra stated, “There are numerous marks from sharp weapon attacks on the womans body. Her condition is serious, and there is a significant risk to the life of her unborn child. We cannot guarantee the babys survival at this point.”Domestic abuse and dowry harassmentThe victim, identified as Preeti, is a resident of Barka Rajpur. She married Ravi Chaudhary from Pandey Patti last year. According to her sister, Rekha Devi, the couples marriage has been marred by ongoing harassment for dowry. Rekha revealed that after discovering her pregnancy, Preeti had sought refuge at her aunts house in Nagarpura village. However, her husband forcibly took her back, where he allegedly carried out the attack. The family of the victim claims they are struggling to obtain assistance for her medical care.Disturbing remarks from accusedThe accused, Ravi Chaudhary, has since been arrested. When questioned about his actions, he reportedly stated, “My wife troubles me a lot. She restricts me and doesnt inform me when she goes anywhere. I am fed up with her.” His statement raises alarming concerns about his mental state, as noted by police officials.Ongoing investigationAuthorities are not only focusing on the husband but are also investigating the actions of Preetis in-laws, who were present during the attack yet failed to assist her. The Mufassil police station in-charge, Arvind Kumar, confirmed the arrest of the husband and stated, “The accused appears to be unstable based on his statements. His family members are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to locate them. We are committed to taking further action in this case.”
